If we divide these leaves into two halves, we can see
that each half is identical to the other one but in opposite sides, then we can
say that this leave is symmetrical. This may seem complex, but in the end we only have to observe and try to find them.
Symmetries are very interesting to look at, because
normally we don’t pay attention to these details that seem complex but that are
around us. For children creating symmetries is very interesting because they
have to manage to make both parts look equal, this can be done with a mirror or
folding the paper to draw the other half.
Moreover, it helps children to work with a spatial dimension
that sometimes can be difficult for them, and this is a good way to do it. In addition, they an also try to create their own symmetrical plant using others as references.
